In a paleontological take the Petri dishes stand as cultural fossils representing the everyday stories of American lives. Collectively the Petri dishes are colored and arranged to evoke the Stars and Stripes, a commentary on the jingoist abuse of this national symbol. The Petri dishes serve as a physical metaphor, each one reminiscent of the individualism of American culture against the backdrop of a divisive political landscape. Here, with these "dangerous" objects embedded in the ultimate icon of the US, we are forced to ask the question of where the true danger to our society lies.
