This piece represents the wage gaps between women of different racial backgrounds and white men in America.
This piece will be on view at the Museum of the Seam in Jerusalem, Israel from May - October 2018.
Wage Gaps highlights the continued inequities in the valuation of women in America. I depict the wide spectrum of wage inequality across racial groups to further the discourse around intersectional feminism and the rampant gender-based racism that still exists today.
The wage gaps statistics are from the Institute for Womens Policy Research based in Washington D.C. They conduct and communicate research to inspire dialog, shape policy, and improve the lives and opportunities of women of diverse backgrounds, circumstances, and experiences. The wage gaps statistics included are from 2016. www.iwpr.org
